Bridget Winterbourne - Artist
Bridget grew up strongly influenced by art, but life took her in a different direction with the family engineering business. When she retired she was able to pursue her dream and become a full-time artist. Rather than formally studying art, she taught herself using many different artistic mediums and materials.
Inspiration comes from the stunning land and seascapes where Bridget lives in North Somerset and her holiday home in Cornwall. She has developed a deep awareness of, and intense relationship with, these places and is drawn to secret and secluded places, such as meadows, woodland and hedgerows. She tries to produce work that captures the beauty of nature, and that reminds us of the things often taken for granted in our increasingly busy lives.
She exhibits from her gallery at home in Wrington, North Somerset which has fabulous views across the Mendip Hills and she also has a studio nearby, located at the beautiful Barley Wood Walled Garden. In Cornwall she exhibits from her studio located in her home at the seaside town of Bude.
Over the years Bridget’s large amount of artwork has been compiled into two books, Art to Inspire and most recently, The Complete Picture. A chance meeting with poet, John Watts, was the catalyst for The Complete Picture; a stunning and original creative collaboration, combining Bridget’s artwork with John’s poetry.
